TIPS FOR HEALTHY SNACKING


Although we all enjoying snacking, it is important to follow certain guidelines in order to get the health benefits from these snacks.

How much should you eat?

It is best to eat snacks that have about 200 calories but you should aim for at least 10 grams of these calories to be from protein. The protein will keep you full until your next meal.

How often should you snack?

This answer will be different for each person. The amount of snack you will need really depends on your activity level and the size of your main meals. If you happen to be someone who is highly active, you will want 2-3 snacks a day, where someone who is inactive may only look for 1 or no snacks.

Accessibility is important!

You should always keep snacks in your bag when you’re out and about. This will reduce the temptation of running into a gas station or restaurant for something that’s unhealthy.

Snack that you should avoid:

You should completely stay away from high-sugar, processed snacks. Yes, you may find that they give you an initial burst of energy, however after a short period of time you will feel more tired than before the snack and you will be hungry again.
